Visiting this week? Read the maintenance notice first
Checked on 11 October 2026: Resorts World Genting announces Awana SkyWay maintenance for 12–16 October 2026, with Genting SkyWay supporting travel during that period. This is a dated notice, not a permanent closure. Recheck the official cable-car page before travelling.
Do not assume the alternative line offers the same boarding point, glass-floor choice or intermediate stop. Confirm the operating line and its actual facilities first; the experience comparison below concerns Awana SkyWay when it is operating.
Choose your view, not the ticket with the grandest name
Start with one simple question: would looking down through the floor be exciting, or would it distract you from enjoying the hills? The standard gondola suits someone who wants to watch the scenery through the windows. The glass-floor option adds a view below your feet; that is its distinctive appeal, rather than a promise of better weather or a private cabin.
The operator sells shared standard and glass-floor rides. Express boarding is a separate option for a standard cabin, not another type of glass-floor experience. Check the exact product before buying, especially if a booking screen presents several similarly named choices.
For a relaxed scenic ride, give the window your attention
Try a small observation game: find a near detail, a middle-distance shape and the farthest ridge you can see. As the cabin moves, watch which one seems to change fastest. You do not need to identify every tree or building to enjoy seeing the landscape at a different scale.
This is our suggested way to look, not a claim that a particular ridge will be visible on your visit. Cloud and visibility can change. Leave a few moments without the phone in front of your face; a short ride can feel much fuller when you are looking rather than collecting pictures.
For the glass floor, curiosity matters more than bravery
If the downward view is what attracts you, let that be the reason for choosing it. There is no need to stage a daring photograph or persuade a reluctant companion to prove anything. Agree on the experience together before buying; an upgrade that makes someone uneasy may not improve the outing.
Ask staff about your own access or comfort needs and follow their boarding instructions. The operator's accessibility provisions differ between cabin types, so a glass floor is not an interchangeable upgrade for every traveller. Online glass-floor tickets currently require purchase at least a day before the ride; verify the live terms.
Photographs: let the landscape lead
A useful picture can be a simple composition: a line, a cabin, a patch of forest and open sky. Look for a clear frame instead of trying to squeeze the entire mountain into every shot. Reflections can become part of the story, or you can change your camera angle gently to reduce them.
Stay in a safe position and respect fellow passengers. Do not lean against doors, block another person's view or arrange a photograph that conflicts with staff instructions. This is a shared journey, not a private photo studio. Fog can change the mood of a picture, but no ticket guarantees a clear panorama.
Add one meaningful stop, not a race through the mountain
During normal Awana operation, the official route information includes a Chin Swee stop. If temple architecture interests you, use our separate Chin Swee guide to decide whether it deserves a proper visit. Do not squeeze a quiet place into an arbitrary five-minute checklist just because it appears on the route.
Alternatively, let the cable-car ride be the scenic feature of the day and enjoy one meal or indoor activity afterwards. The most satisfying choice is the one that fits your interests, not the greatest number of stops. During maintenance, reconfirm the alternative line rather than transferring this route description to it.
Keep the ride and the road journey as separate bookings
For a Singapore–Genting transfer, say whether your confirmed destination is a cable-car station or a hilltop hotel. The right answer depends on your actual plan; a car booking does not automatically include cable-car tickets, an attraction visit, waiting or additional stops.
Send the date, exact pickup and drop-off, passengers, luggage, children or mobility needs and any return arrangement for a transport quote. Road and border conditions vary. For the separate arrival-and-luggage decision, use our linked handoff guide; this article is about enjoying the view.
Questions and answers
Do I need the glass-floor cabin to enjoy the scenery?
No. Choose the standard cabin if the window view is the part you want. Choose the glass floor for its additional downward perspective, after checking comfort, access and current availability.
Will Awana SkyWay operate on 12–16 October 2026?
The official notice checked on 11 October lists maintenance on those dates and Genting SkyWay as the supporting service. Recheck current arrangements; do not assume the substitute has the same route or cabin choices.
Does a private-car booking include the cable car?
Not automatically. Confirm road transport, cable-car admission, waiting and extra stops separately.
